# Preparation You will need the following to prepare for your session: 1. Place where you can lie flat on your back. The floor on a mat is ideal, but the bed can also work. 2. Blanket. People often get cold during breathwork, so it helps to have stuff to stay warm. 3. Headphones. The experience is more immersive with headphones than with speakers. 4. Eye mask (optional) 5. Water (optional). You may get thirsty during the session. 6. Pillow. This is actually to scream in, not to rest your head on. You'll want your head flat on the floor to keep your airway as open as possible. 7. Try not to eat a big meal before hand. You don't need an empty stomach but you don't want to feel full and heavy. # Common Sensations 1. Light-headedness (temporary) 2. Tingling (face, neck, arms, legs most common) 3. Cramping (face, hands, legs), also known as tetany 4. Can feel hot or cold 5. Can feel heavy in the body, like being stuck to the floor 6. Body can shake, may feel like moving # Contraindications Consult with your medical provider before practicing this type of breathing if you have, or have a history of: - Pregnancy - Cardiovascular disease - Angina - Asthma - Heart attack - High blood pressure - Glaucoma - Retinal detachment - Osteoporosis - Recent injury or surgery - Any conditions for which you take regular medications - History of panic attacks, psychosis - Severe mental illnesses - Seizure disorders - Family history of aneurisms
