Healing necessarily takes place in the present moment. The present moment is all we have, therefore the brain and nervous system, as it is today, can be retrained, rewired, and healed, today. Retracing our past stories is not always the direct path to healing, and can often impede healing by refreshing old wounds rather than releasing them. True healing happens when we fully accept and release the past, let go of our pain, open up to the present moment, and allow. This can be challenging because we have formed an identity around the pain. We must grow out of this identity, like a chick hatching from a shell, so that a truer version of ourself can emerge.
