#mind #brain
Mind is a process of the brain, but is not the brain. The brain is a physical organ that secretes thoughts, like a gland that secretes hormones.
The mind consists of systems of thoughts that form conceptual thinking. This is an important distinction to make for [[nervous system health]] because thinking turns out to just be a physical sensation that can be observed, like being cold or feeling sore muscles.
The mind and its contents can take on a life of its own. It's important to not identify with the thoughts and concepts of the thinking mind, but rather recognize that they simply represent things that are contained in the brain, like water in a cup. Just like the water is not the cup, we are not our thoughts.
